Purpose #1: Worship
“In view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as living sacrifices...this is your spiritual act of worship.” - Romans 12:1 *
Worship is fully surrendering and offering every part of our life to God as an expression of our appreciation to Him. God has purposed that worship be the ultimate goal of our life.
Purpose #2: Fellowship
“All men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35
Fellowship is another term for warm, close family-like relationships. We are convinced that what God expects of us is to live like a family. That means we expect each one at SFC to live life together in small groups. God has purposed that fellowship be the characteristic mark of the Christian life.
Purpose #3: Discipleship
“God knew his people in advance and he chose them to become like his Son.” - Romans 8:29*
Discipleship is the process people go through to become more like Jesus. Life-change takes place as we are spiritually formed into His image. God has purposed that each of His children become more and more like Jesus.
Purpose #4: Ministry
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received, faithfully administering God’s gift in its various forms.” - 1 Peter 4:10
Ministry is an expression of our worship as we use our spiritual gifts to serve the needs of others. Ministry causes people to see and recognize God’s gifting of His people, which in turn causes them to worship Him. God has purposed that through the use of our spiritual gifts, the needs of the church are met and God’s reputation and fame spread throughout the earth.
Purpose #5: Mission
“...make disciples of all nations..”- Matthew 28:19
Mission is reaching every people group with the message of Jesus. As Jesus’ ambassadors to each of the people groups of the world, our mission is to live out and teach them of God’s plan of forgiveness and life through Jesus. Whether locally or globally God has sent each one of us to fulfill His purpose of reaching all nations.
